استانداردهای زیبایی در جوامع مختلف و در طول زمان متفاوت است. برای مثال ممکن است چاقی در مواردی زیبایی محسوب شود درحالیکه لاغری هم نیز در مواردی دیگر. گاهی وقتها تب لاغرشدن و مانکن بودن همگان را میگیرد و همه رژیم غذایی میگیرند و سبزیخوار میشوند و ورزشکار. یا زیبایی دماغ. چند سالی هست که زیبایی دماغ به مساله جالبی در میان ایرانیان و بهخصوص زنان تبدیل شده و همه میکوشند با عمل جراحی زیبایی دماغ قیافه خود را به حالت مطلوب تبدیل کنند. بنابراین میتوان گفت که ارزیابی زیبایی و جذابیت فیزیکی در هر جامعهای در زمان مشخص به واقعیتهای آن جامعه بستگی دارد. استانداردهای زیبایی در ایران ۱۳۸۸ همانهایی هستند که در شادی خودجوش مردم مشاهده میشود و این استانداردها قطعا با استانداردهای جای دیگری مثل ترکیه متفاوت است. اما ظاهرا تب لاغرشدن چند سالی هست همه کشورهای جهان را فراگرفته. با اینکه بهنظر میرسد قبل از دهه ۲۰۰۰ میلادی استاندارد جهانی یکسانی برای زیبایی و جذابیت فیزیکی وجود نداشت اما حالا یک استاندارد پیدا شده و آن هم عبارت است از: لاغرشدن و جذابیت فیزیکی. اما آیا دستمزدهای افراد باید بازتابدهنده زیبایی باشند؟ بهنظر من اگر چنین باشد مطلوب است! چه حرفا!
زیبایی امری نسبی است یا مطلق؟ پاسخ به این پرسش میتواند یک مساله اقتصادی را روشن کند: اگر زیبایی و جذابیت فیزیکی به مفهوم مطلق آن مد نظر جامعه باشد در این صورت سرمایهگذاری در زیبایی و جذابیت فیزیکی به یک هدف اجتماعی تبدیل میشود. اما اگر زیبایی به مفهوم نسبی ان مورد توجه باشد در این صورت سرمایهگذاری در این حوزه بیهوده است و دولت میتواند با سیاستهایی مانند وضع مالیات بر مصرف لوازم آرایشی یا داروهای ضد طاسی برای آقایان مانع از انجام چنین سرمایهگذاریهایی شود! لاغری و چاقی هم همینطور است: چرا صنعت سینما به هنرپیشههای لاغر و مانکنی دستمزد بیشتری میدهد اما به چاقها دستمزدی کمتر؟ چرا پسران و دخترانی که دارند از لاغری میمیرند میخواهند باربی بمانند؟ ظاهرا فرهنگ و واقعیتهای غالب جامعه ما در حال حاضر صرفا بر لاغری تاکید میکند: پزشکان برای چاقی کاروبارشان سکه میشود، سالنهای ورزشی زیادی باید باز شود و مربیان ورزشی زیادی باید بهکار گرفته شود. از آن سو تولیدکنندگان پفک و هر چیز چرب میگوید بخور مثل نیقلیون شدی! تضاد منافع همگان را گیج کرده است! لاغر بمانیم یا چاق شویم؟ ظاهرا فعلا طرفداران لاغری این بازی را بردهاند.
