مختصر و مفید مجموعه ای است از نشر ماهی که عنوان یکی از آنها این است: «سرمایه داری چیست؟» آنها را در نمایشگاه کتاب دیدم. سرمایه داری چیست نوشته جیمز فالچر و ترجمه مصطفی امیری است. تا به حال چندین کتاب درباره سرمایه داری خوانده ام، اما به جرأت می توانم بگویم کتابی به این روانی و زیبایی نخوانده بودم. کتاب بسیار خوب نوشته شده است: نویسنده مباحثی از قبیل تولید سرمایه دارانه در قرن شانزدم و هفدهم را با مباحثی نوین همچون سرمایه داری مالی در قرن بیستم و ظهور و سقوط بانکی همچون بیرینگز گره زده که همین امر به او اجازه داده روایتی دل نشین از پیدایش سرمایه داری ارائه دهد. مترجم هم گرچه من پیشتر از او کاری نخوانده ام و موقع خرید از فروشندگان نشر ماهی در خصوص او سوالاتی پرسیدم، کارش را خیلی خوب انجام داده است که در مواردی هم نقایص کوچکی دارد: مثلا هرناندو دسوتو را نوشته اِرناندو دسوتو (ص ۲۵) که البته من پیش از این فکر می کردم اولی درست است، شاید هم دومی درست باشد. البته دوستان و خوانندگان عزیز می دانند که به حرف های علامه بیسوادی چون من نمی توان زیاد اعتماد کرد! در هر صورت توصیه من به تمام دانشجویان اقتصاد از سال اول تا هر جا و تمامی اقتصادخوانان و اقتصاددانان این است که این کتاب را از دست ندهند. مجموعه مختصر مفید نشر ماهی عناوین دیگری هم دارد که اقتصادی نیستند ولی به نظر خوب می آیند. برخی را هم مترجمین گران قدری چون خشایار دیهیمی ترجمه کرده اند. اگر پولی گیرم بیاید بدم نمی آید آنها را هم بخوانم. این روزها کتاب برای من خیلی گران شده است!

تلفظ اسپانیایی این اسم به صورت اِرناندو و تلفظ انگلیسی آن به شکل هِرنَندو آمده است که برای راحتی می توان به شکل هرناندو هم نوشت
و چون کتابهای ترجمه شده معمولا از زبان انگلیسی به فارسی ترجمه می شوند پس بهتر است از تلفظ انگلیسی آنها استفاده شود
